DA Files Charges On Two In MySpace Case

District Attorney Richard Smothermon said Tuesday that he is filing charges of enticing a runaway youth against two Illinois residents, Mandy Forth and Jared Lucero, in connection with the July 18 disappearance of Tecumseh 15-year-old.

He is also filing second-degree rape charges in Lincoln County against Lucero, 19. The charges of enticing a runaway youth are being filed in Pottawatomie County, said Smothermon, district attorney in both jurisdictions.

Forth, 21, and Lucero allegedly enticed the girl to leave the city with them after meeting her through the website MySpace.com. and chatting with her for two years. They and an unidentified minor reportedly picked the girl up in a black Buick and drove to Chandler to spend the night before continuing on to Illinois. The FBI and Illinois officials caught up with them July 20. the girl was returned to her family that night.
