Man Accused Of Raping MySpace Girl

Full story and MySpace profile:

San Antonio soldier remained in custody Monday night, accused of raping a teenager he met on the website, myspace.com, authorities said.

It all started when the girl met what she thought was another teenage boy, investigators said. Police said 21-year-old Andrew Canchola told the girl he was a teenager.

“He first introduced himself as a 17-year-old to lure her in,” Sgt. Chris Burchell with Bexar County Sheriff’s Office told News 4 WOAI.

After a month of chatting, the pair planned to meet, authorities said.

Canchola lives near Austin, but the Army Reservist was on active duty at Fort Sam Houston this past weekend, officials said. Canchola planned to meet the girl Friday night, authorities said.

“He met her. He met her parents, and when he met, her mother discovered he was 21 years of age,” Sgt. Burchell said. “And, she was very clear that she did not want him in her house and didn't want him seeing her daughter anymore.”
