Man Arrested For Marrying Child Bride

Full story and MySpace profile:

A Clifton man was arrested for taking a 16-year-old Morenci girl to Mexico and marrying her.

Leroy W. Fornof, 20, Clifton, is charged with sexual conduct with a minor, custodial interference and child molestation.

The girl was placed in the Graham County Juvenile Detention Center as a runaway and as incorrigible.

Clifton Police Chief Spencer Preston said Fornof and some friends from Duncan drove the girl to Palomas, Mexico, where Fornof married her Oct. 28. They were married by a priest at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Parroquia (Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish).

The girl’s mother had reported her daughter missing Oct. 27. Greenlee County Sheriff’s deputy Michael Andazola and investigator Paul Easley headed the investigation. The girl admitted to having had sex with Fornof on more than one occasion.

She told officers she and Fornof had sex the night before they were married.
