A Westminster man accused of seeking sex with a teenage girl over the Internet pleaded guilty Sunday, Denver police said.
Eric Morgan, 23, pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child and second-degree assault. He faces 10 years in prison at his sentencing scheduled for Feb. 20.
Morgan was originally charged with enticement of a child, which police said, would have carried a potential life in prison sentence, if convicted.
Police said although there was no actual assault in this case, Morgan pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in order to reach the agreed-upon sentence of 10 years in prison.
Police said Morgan was in an online chat room just over one year ago talking with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl. Police said he repeatedly solicited sex from her over the course of several weeks.
