Man Sentenced To Death For Killing 10 Year Old

Authorities said a 10-year-old Purcell girl, missing since Wednesday and the subject of an Amber Alert since Thursday, was found dead late Friday afternoon.

Reading from a statement, Purcell Police Chief David Tompkins said that the Oklahoma medical examiner's office still needed to make a positive identification of the body but that they believed it was that of Jamie Rose Bolin, who had been missing since about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities said she was last seen at the Purcell Library.

Tompkins said Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, had been taken into custody in connection with the case. District Attorney Tim Kuykendall said that he expects Underwood to be charged Monday with first-degree murder in Bolin's death. Underwood is being held without bond over the Easter weekend.

The disappearance was first treated as a runaway, but an Amber Alert was issued after another girl told police Jamie had been using a computer to talk online with a man. Authorities now say that while Bolin's death likely had nothing to do with an online predator, they are still looking into conversations the 10-year-old might have had online.

...Eventually Kevin Ray Underwood was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Jamie Bolin. You can read all about that from our main site.
