A Marysville, Kan. man has been arrested by Marshall County sheriff’s deputies and is awaiting extradition back to Siskiyou County.
The arrest stems from an incident that happened a few weeks ago, during which the man, Javan Victor Dunken, attempted to contact an underage girl for a date.
Now the Yreka Police Department is warning area parents whose children are on the Internet social networking site, MySpace, to be careful of predatory adults.
A few weeks ago, according to YPD Chief Brian Bowles, a teenager received a message from a 28-year-old male who wanted to “have a date with her.” In a hardcopy of the message, the man included his cell phone number.
The teenager told her mother, Bowles said. A short while later, the mother contacted the YPD. Their report was filed with the Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office.
