Men Charged With Rape, Sodomy

A Georgetown man has been arrested and charged with using a 13-year-old girl to solicit sexual favors from her underage friends.

Matthew M. Yeager, 23, was arrested after turning himself in to police Wednesday and charged with two counts of unlawful transaction with a minor, second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree sodomy.

Yeager had a 13-year-old relative ask her friends, who were all close to her age, to have sex with him, Georgetown Police Detective Reed Wilbers said. The incidents, which began sometime during the spring of 2005, continued until just a few weeks ago when police began their investigation, the detective said.

The young girl agreed to the arrangement so that she could have the time and place to have sex with her then-18-year-old boyfriend, Andrew C. Jordan, Wilbers said. At one time, Jordan and Yeager were roommates, he said.

In all, the girl contacted six of her friends about having sex with Yeager, Wilbers said. Only one of the girls has admitted that a sexual relationship actually took place, he said.

Police began investigating Yeager after one of his relatives alerted police about the situation, Wilbers said.

As he finds common in sex crimes involving young victims, Wilbers said that Yeager was targeting young girls with low self-esteem issues who responded to the attention of an older man.

“They are more easily convinced to make these poor choices,” he said.

Jordan, now 19, of Georgetown, was arrested June 15 and charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree sodomy. During police questioning, Jordan admitted to having had a sexual relationship with the 13-year-old, Wilbers said.
