MySpace Chat Leads To Arrest

Full story and MySpace profile:

The six-week long investigation by the Escambia Sheriff’s Office wrapped up with the arrest of a 22-year-old Pensacola man charged with sex offenses with a “teen” he met on MySpace.

The teen’s page on the internet networking site was not that of a 14-year-old girl, but was set up by Sgt. Ski Gowitzke of the Sheriff’s Office’s computer crimes unit.

Gowtizke, posing as a teenage girl online, was contacted by a man who, through subsequent e-mails and chats, suggested they meet to engage in sexual activity, officials said.

The man arranged to meet the “girl” at a movie theater where he told her to dress in loose clothing so he might fondle her. Other acts also were suggested, officials said.

Arrested at the theater Sunday was Steven “Jarrod” Mclendon of the 400 block of Herron Villa Lane, Pensacola.
