Police: Man Used MySpace To Lure Teen

From 2007:

David R. Dashem, 45, of 117 Dashem Lane, was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge Jonathan Grine and jailed in lieu of $750,000 straight bail after being charged with unlawful contact or communication with minors, corruption of minors and providing marijuana for who he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Dashem was caught trying to lure the girl, whose role actually was played by police officers, into a sexual encounter, according to court documents.

“ ... I am willing to teach you anything you would like to try,” Dashem is quoted as telling an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old. “I am not a pervert just a normale (sic) guy who likes to make females happy and a feel good.”

Borough police were alerted by the father of a 13-year old girl, who had been approached by Dashem online through her MySpace account, according to court documents. The girl’s father, alarmed that the online stalker managed to find his daughter’s cell phone number, set up his own MySpace account and began posing as a 14-year old, police said.
