Police: Suspect Used MySpace To Find Teens

A Michigan man was arrested after he traveled to Keene to meet a 14-year-old boy he met on the Internet — or so he thought, police said.

Keene Detective Jim McLaughlin said he posed as the teenager and chatted online with Jeremy Dale Stewart, 28, for the past two months.

McLaughlin said Stewart used the social networking space MySpace.com to find teens, and he arranged a meeting in Keene.

In court documents, investigators said that Stewart wanted to be the teen's boyfriend, sending him photos and love notes. When a rendezvous was proposed last month, Stewart wrote, "I'm like a giddy little school boy about our whole meeting," police said.

"This subject took a bus, which took about 25 hours for him to travel from Michigan to Keene to the bus station," McLaughlin said. "And he was taken into custody without incident."

Police said that when they told him he was being arrested, he told them, "I came here on vacation."
