Second Arrest Made In Baby Death Case

Full story and MySpace profile:

A second person is in jail in connection with a newborn baby who was dragged out of the woods by dogs in Chattooga County earlier this month. The father of the baby has been charged with statutory rape and child molestation. On Friday, the baby’s grandmother was charged with discarding the baby boy’s body.

Eighteen-year-old Omar Lashley, of Summerville, is the father of the dead infant. Chattooga County Sheriff investigators say the mother of the baby was only 13 years old when she became pregnant.

Chattooga County Sheriff investigator Eddie Stroup said, “I was told they considered themselves to be friends.”

On November 6, a man who lives on Georgia State Highway 100 south of Summerville, called 911 when his dog dragged the body of an infant up to his porch. The dog found the baby in a wooded area across Highway 100 from his home. That’s where investigators found a bloody shoe box.

Investigator Stroup says the baby was dumped in the woods a week before the discovery by the dog. The baby’s mother, who is now 14 years old, told them she gave birth on October 30 in her Summerville home. Her mother was home at the time.

The 14-year-old’s mother, 38-year-old Angela Green, told police that was the first time she realized her daughter was pregnant. Last Friday, Green was charged with concealing the death of another. Investigator Stroup says Angela Green dumped the baby in the woods after her daughter gave birth on the morning of October 30.
