Lawrence Alvin Lovette Jr has also been charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the death of 29-year-old Abhijit Mahato, who was found shot to death back in January in his apartment near the Duke University campus.
Lawrence and friend Demario James Atwater are also both charged in the murder of UNC student Body president Eve Carson.
