Police: Man Kidnaps, Rapes Teen

Suspect held on $500,000 bail:

A 27-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged with numerous crimes after allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl and attempting to kill police officers during a standoff at a motel in Stroudsburg.

Derek J. Bengtsson, 27, of Price Township, is accused of kidnapping the girl from her home at gunpoint where he then took her to the motel, shackled here up and then raped her. After the attack police tried to break the door down to the room, but were instead shot at four times during the ordeal.

Luckily, no one was hit, and Bengtsson later surrendered to officers.

According to the affidavit, the girl told police that Bengtsson had gone into her bedroom, brandished a handgun and said, "If you don't come with me, bad things are going to happen." He then threatened to kill everyone in the house if she didn't do what he had wanted.

After abducting her from her home, he drove her to the motel, took her into his room, locked the door and proceeded to attack her, said police.

A note was given to officers, by the victim that Bengtsson allegedly wrote.

It said, in part:

"Yes, I took her. And as long as you play by my rules, She will come back unharmed and breathing. However, Failure to abide by the rules will result in a bullet put in her head. My Rules: Do NOTHING! Sit there in silence and SUFFER."

As of this point, police do not know who the note was intended for.

Derek Bengtsson has been charged with attempted homicide, rape, and kidnapping.
